Safeguarding and Policies
Safeguarding is the foundation of everything we deliver. We work with children, young people and adults across schools, community sessions and private events, and every setting has the same standard of care.

Our safeguarding lead
Oliver Greaves is the Designated Safeguarding Lead for DJ Club CIC and can be contacted directly with any concern.

Staff and instructor checks
All DJ Club CIC instructors hold an enhanced DBS check with children’s barred list. All instructors complete Level 1 safeguarding awareness training and Prevent training before delivering any session. These are reviewed and renewed annually.
We do not use untrained volunteers in sessions with children or young people.
Insurance
DJ Club CIC holds public liability insurance of at least £5 million, specifying work in schools and with children. A copy of our certificate of insurance is available on request.
All DJ and electrical equipment used in sessions is PAT tested annually.
How we work in schools
When we deliver in schools, the school’s own safeguarding and behaviour policies take priority. Before the first session we ask for a copy of the school’s behaviour policy and the name of their Designated Safeguarding Lead. Our instructor follows the school’s reporting procedures if any concern arises.
A member of school staff is present throughout every session.
How we work with adults
Adult sessions (lessons, courses, parties and corporate events) are delivered under our standard health and safety procedures. Where an event includes anyone under 18, the safeguarding framework for young people applies in full regardless of how the booking was made.
Photography and video
We do not photograph or film anyone without consent.
In schools, we follow the school’s own consent process and only photograph students where the school confirms parental consent is in place.
At private events, we ask the organiser at the point of booking whether we may take photos or short video for our social media. If any guest would rather not appear, we work around it. Consent can be withdrawn at any time.
We never publish images of children on social media without written consent from a parent or carer.
Music content
All music used in sessions with young people is age-appropriate and checked by the instructor in advance. Students can suggest tracks, but nothing is played without being reviewed first. We do not play tracks containing explicit language or themes.
Risk assessment
A written risk assessment covering electrical safety, cable management, trip hazards, noise levels and participant welfare is in place for every type of session we deliver. This is available on request, and we are happy to complete your own contractor or visitor risk assessment paperwork.
Data protection
DJ Club CIC collects and stores personal data only where necessary for the delivery of our services, in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation. We hold contact details for parents, carers and participants securely and do not share personal information with third parties without consent. Our privacy policy is available at djclub.org.uk/privacy-policy.
Reporting a concern
Our full safeguarding policy (downloadable above), risk assessment, public liability insurance certificate, DBS verification, and PAT testing records are all available on request. Email oliver@djclub.org.uk and we will send them within 24 hours.
